The Old Chapel has an overwhelming choice of activities within a short drive. Outdoors enthusiasts can explore Dalby Forest which offers a wide variety of walks and bike rides for all abilities as well as Go Ape high ropes adventure and a great playground. Mountain bikers can enjoy miles of first-class trails whilst equestrians will find stables at nearby Snainton and Sinnington. History buffs will be spoilt for choice. The medieval castle and church at Pickering is just a 20 minute drive away and there are several other English Heritage sites within an hours drive. Foodies can visit Yorkshire's Food Capital, Malton, where you can pick up some holiday treats from the many independent food shops as well as visit the brewery and gin distillery.


Scarborough and Whitby are both within 30 minutes drive of Levisham should you fancy escaping to the coast, while historic York and Castle Howard can easily be reached within the hour.

    Pickering Castle and Town 

    Pickering's impressive motte-and-bailey castle is well preserved and you can still see much of the original keep, towers and walls.     Whitby, Scarborough and the Yorkshire Coast 

    Whitby is ever-growingly popular for its quaint streets, busy harbour area, and the Abbey of St. Hilda. St. Mary’s graveyard was the inspiration to Bram Stokers novel, Dracula. Whitby was also the training ground of the great explorer Captain Cook. Whitby and Scarborough are surrounded by a number of other quaint fishing villages and sandy beaches such as Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes and Sandsend. Cayton Bay at Scarborough is a popular surf destination and those interested in culture may wish to visit the Stephen Joseph Theatre where famous playwright Alan Ayckbourn premieres most of his works. Children will enjoy Scarborough Sea Life Center too.
